It's a black eye, see? Get it?

I tried some new things with this one. For instance, I wanted this painting to be dark and rich, so I scrubbed the canvas down with a thin layer of lamp black a few hours before I started. I also got fancy with brushwork.

Unfortunately, I stopped work before the painting was finished. (Bad habit.) Notably in the eyelashes; I'm not a fucking camel. Also not satisfied with the sclera, and the iris... well it just doesn't pop like I hoped it would. Oh well.
