Pilot V5's are probably my favorite type of pen. When I get a hold of one, I tend to use it and use it and use it until it's all gone. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Light from the Firmament

I have had a revelation...

...Concerning these robots. I did not know their names, but now I know that the one on the top is from the Tetragrammatron Series. Model number currently unknown. He is made of silver and gold. The fembot's name is still hidden to me, but I have discovered that she is made of lead.

CONFIRMED.

What a disaster today. The Pilot G-2 is a terrible drawing pen. The Hanged Man is included only for completeness. The Hermit was redeeming. The last sketch can be blamed on no pen; I ran out of steam. But yet, I like how it turned out. So there it is.

Pilot G-2 07 Retractable, gel-point (fine) rolling ball, black ink.
5.5" x 8.5" 65 lb acid free paper.

Pilot G-2 07 Retractable, gel-point (fine) rolling ball, black ink. (The World)

15, The Devil.
8, Strength.
21, The World.
I do not like drawing with the Pilot G-2. It's a fine writing pen, but very difficult to handle when drawing. In fact it can be pretty atrocious, as tomorrow's post will show.

United States of Anxiety.

Hey America, I know shit's bad right now.
Oil on Canvas board, 2010.
It's gotta get worse before it gets better.

But don't worry, it'll all be okay.

This is the type of work I should be doing on cardboard boxes from the United States Postal Service. Mostly I was just experimenting with sgraffito. The canton turned out well.

Year of our Lord

Two Thousand Eleven.

I usually don't make New Year's resolutions because the middle of the winter does not feel like an appropriate turning point. I make resolutions in the Spring, like the citizens of the Roman Republic. If they were into that kind of a thing.

This time the Kalends of Janus felt like a turning point. Seasons change and so do I. As a matter of public record, and for the purposes of auditing, I have made four New Year's Resolutions fit to publish.

  1. Hold down a job for +6 months (&or go back to school).
  2. Move out.
  3. Get serious about building a nascent art career. (&Or go back to school.)
  4. Read the ~52 unfinished/unread books I'm sitting on.
Notes:
One and three are likely. Four is doable. Two is a dream, but it's good to dream.
How many turning points can you have before you end up back where you started?
